Happy New Year Everyone

Jan 23 2010

Dear all,

I really apologise for not updating my blog more frequently and must do better in the new year. I can't believe that 2 months have gone by since the last one! I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and the New Year. I missed my family and frienda at home but I had a lovely time here. Thank you for all the nice messages you sent.

Meanwhile things have been pretty quiet here in Fort Portal as the studenst have two whole months off for the holidays! I have been keeping busy though. I am writing a Special Needs Education course guide for the college (Canon Apolo Primary Teacher's College) and have been doing some work with my parents of children with disabilities group in Kichwamba. Their garlic growing project is nearly ready for harvesting, plus they have an exciting idea for a "Revolving Fund" which I'll write more about soon!  Later on this week we are having another eye outreach clinic.

I know many of you look forward to hearing how Beatrice is doing and the good news is that she is doing really well! Her leg has healed beautifully and in two weeks time we are heading to Kampala so that they can fit the prosthesis. It is going to make such a big difference to her life.

I've also had time for some fun! Including a trip to see the zebras at Lake Mburo and a night in Kampala where I enjoyed my first hot shower in 4 months. It was lovely! And I feel so clean for a change.

Well, I think that's all for now but I really will try to keep you more updated on my news. Thank you very much for reading.

Love from Hannah

Happy New Year Everyone

Hi Hannah.

Nice to hear about how Beatrice is doing and what is happening out there in Uganda. Pleased to hear that you have had some time for R and R. It is still pretty cold here in England. Can't wait till Spring. The snowdrops are just coming out  and the nights are getting abit lighter. I am now a great aunt which makes me feel rather old!!!  Caistor Grammar School has made the front page of this weeks Rasen Mail. Continues to do very well in the national tables for academic achievement. Happy New Year to you and best wishes for 2010.

Love Vi
